If it’s this new style truck your company bought, they come out of a completely new plant. Hopefully, Volvo will get the production lines sorted. However, given the state of our society, they’re probably lucky anyone even shows up for work.

The auto plant I deliver to used to have a lottery system for applicant interviews, as a temp. Now, a person can walk straight into a company production position. If I lived around there, I know where I’d be applying for a job.

I would not want to buy a first year model of any new production vehicle. I made that mistake when I purchased a 2001 Honda Civic brand new and it was an all new vehicle from the ground up, I owned it for just short of 2 years and had all sorts of annoyances with it. I was delighted to trade that for a 2003 Subaru Outback H6.

The 2021 Volvo model I previously mentioned, it is due to be replaced within the next year or so. I'm actually waiting on one of these newest model Volvo trucks as well but I am guessing that one of the company drivers senior to me will get the new truck and I will get their lightly used previous gen model, probably a 2024 model that will have the bugs worked out of it. I really like the 2019-2024 model Volvo VNL so I will happily rock it for a few more years until hopefully they get all the bugs worked out of the now newest gen model.

You better hang on to that unicorn. I wouldn’t buy any current Subaru, even at 50% discount. However, a brand-new, 2nd Gen Forester XT would get me through their doors. Haha.

Mack has become a poor man's Volvo. There are some similarities but the differences really stand out and make me not interested at all in the Mack Anthem.

I second this. Not a fan of the dash and gauge cluster setup in those Anthems

We have a bunch where I work. Newest ones are 2022. Had one plagued with soot issues. Changed out a bunch of parts. Spent thousands. Supposedly it’s because of a software issue. In the process now of getting all of them updated. It’s free, takes about half hour. That’s all I know. Can’t beat them for ride, plenty of power and good fuel economy. All autos. Minimum is 8.5 mpg.

The cab is awful. Tiny, ill appointed, lousy storage, no room for driver. Most people who go VNL don't go back. Once you accept that they just as reliable as any other truck and that Volvo has perfected the automatic transmission (automated manual, I know) then benefits over most other trucks start to stand out. Mosty, that's interior layout, ride and interior room.

Anyone who tells you Volvos are worse on maintenance and parts doesn't know what they're talking about.

The new Mack is a Volvo underneath so why buy a Mack anymore? Just get a Volvo and get the extra space.

I cannot speak to price differences, never priced any of them new.
