A newlywed couple and the bride’s mother were killed in a crash after a semitruck overturned on Interstate 70 west of Denver, spilling its cargo of large plastic tubes, just days after the wedding, family members said.
Ruben Rodriguez, 33; Juliana Rodriguez Plata, 37, and her mother, Luz Melba Martinez, who had traveled from Colombia for the Aug. 10 wedding, were killed in the crash Thursday morning, Ruben Rodriguez’s sister-in-law, Janell Rodriguez, told KMGH-TV.

Police said they were working with prosecutors on possible charges being filed in connection with the series of crashes triggered by the truck overturning.
At least six other vehicles besides the truck were involved, they said. However, with a debris field spanning the length of more than two football fields (220 meters), police cautioned the investigation would likely take weeks, rather than days.broke down plumber, Lane=addict, ducnut and 4 others Thank this. -
If that is right there close to that TA, whoever designed that work zone needs to be charged as well. It's not only an abrupt shift that you can't see until you are ON IT, it also goes up and over a hump, so a high center of gravity load may have an issue. That work zone, plus EVERY SINGLE BRIDGE on I-76 needs to be re-done, and the company that did the original work needs to pay for it. Every single bridge on I-76 in the metro area does not match the grade of the highway. Some of them are off enough to cast a shadow. The ones that are actually close have a dip in the approach, so you still get tossed around. I would rather cross CO via Leadville than go through Denver. Lately I have been taking 80 across WY just to avoid Denver.

I had to pickup a beer load near there in Golden a few months ago. That load was heavy AF and was not fun going through that construction zone!

That shift was pretty ridiculous when it was on the westbound side too, but at least it was a fairly straight approach. Now that they've switched it over to the other side, you would think it would be significantly better since they had more room, but no such luck! I mean at least you can get through there without crossing the line, which was almost impossible on the eastbound side.broke down plumber, TheLoadOut and PacoTaco Thank this.

If the road is the problem, then why aren't all of the other trucks crashing as well?

He might have been trying to throw his ears across the highway from all those bells and alarms at the time this occurred. Desperate times call for desperate measures, you know.broke down plumber and Adolph Coors Thank this.

Long time employee of Roehl. It's a terrible loss of life. My prayers are with everyone involved.
But our onboard data recorders and cameras will reveal what happened. Our guys are very well trained. And safety is something the company and it's drivers take very serious.
I do disagree however with the end of the news report where it states the company is satisfactory. We have an outstanding score with the FMCSA.
Disclaimer - Statements made above are not from the company itself, it is my personal opinion.
Roehl is a great company, and I'm proud to be a part of the family!
