In the old rule, you could have used the sleeper berth split anyway you wanted, provided that the shortest sleeper time was 2 hours. You could have slept two hours, three hours, 4 hours, then drive some and then complete the 8 hour break. The only other rule preventing you from driving was no more than 15 hours on duty per 24 hr period. Of course there was 70 hours per 8 days and no 34 reset but you had loose leaf pages for that.

Reread what I wrote. I had split. 4&4 did not work for me 6 and 2 did. Do the math. After 3 typical days the bigger part of the break had migrated from am to pm.

Last truck had the dongle removed, and I did figure out how to use it sans that. This truck had been assigned a unit, so it was listed, just not as available. The funny thing is having to put in a location sometimes but not others, and it not letting a mileage start but being able to fill it in later.

It basically reverts to the Keep Trucking ap with just enough stuff to screw that up.

And no, I'm not violating anything doing this by the 395 rules and exceptions.

Carrier is responsible for safety so until that changes your argument is silly. Once you sign your log no one but you can change anything.
If you’re worried about someone messing with your log then take a picture/screenshot or print them out every day.

I did once have my own ELD service through Keep Trucking when I leased on to a carrier but, they had complete control over it. Was just a situation where I already had the service and it saved the carrier from having to pay for another one for me.

I send them to a google account that I only use for elog copies and dvir's. Just that way you have copies at the end of the day, if something is changed you can compare them.
I run legal, sometimes to till I just have a minute or so, but not over, I do use yard moves anytime I am not on a public road way, such as shipper's, receiver's, Truckstop's between the fuel island and the pump. I see now reason to use up driving time when not needed. I don't really have a need of PC although it's available on the elog.
