20 pounds, you’ll burn that off in about 80 miles or so….I keep a set of 30 pounds dumbbells, 60 pound total old rusted dumbbells on my truck. If They tried to slap me for being 20 pounds over I would just throw them in the garbage. Lol now I know what some of you’re saying I’m 60 pounds extra but I’ve also lost about 60 pounds in weight over the last year. Because of those dumbbells. Or at least they’ve helped. Make me get rid of my dumbbells and I’ll just gain 60 pounds back. Lol

At highway speeds, a semi burns about 1 lb of fuel per minute/mile. Will you come across a scale in the next 20 miles?

Also, I used to keep tire chains in my side box. If you could put them in the trailer, you are probably legal on your drives...

The scenario doesn't work for most of the country.

5000 lightens up the wallet really good.

When I worked for Roehl Transport they informed me that there is a 400 pound allowance in the drive tire weight allowance if you have an APU. So you can legally run 34,400 all day without issue and DOT should know this.

Me thinks you should have paid more attention during training.

You can't just have one, it must be functional. In order to qualify, the DOT guy can say "Ok turn it on" and it at least must RUN. You don't have to prove that it heats or cools the cab, just that it starts. These POS APU's I see hanging off the sides of these wrecks where most of the sheet metal of the APU is missing and the belt is long gone, that's not going to work. You're just dragging dead weight around.
