Ottery Transportation, Inc.
I got a job offer from Ottery last year and looking back I know I should have taken it but chose differently, oh well. They have an exceptionally good reputation and mainly run southern routes from Wisconsin. Late model Kenworth and Peterbilt tractors with MX-13 engines and 68 or 70mph governors, Tripac APU, and overall I thought them to be very nicely equipped mid-roof trucks. They do run super singles on their trailers. All their equipment is newer and very well maintained.

Thank you again! Do you know if they have an active blog/conversation section with other drivers speaking on? I would love to read what other drivers experience with them. Although, every experience is different..

I think they're are among the few that allows them. I see they're having some changes that's catering to team driving idk about that but I'll still keep them on the list. So far they're looking like the top 5. May the best company wins huh...

Thank you! So far I love their systems of running Midwest, East, and South. Definitely will look more into them during my hunt! May I ask, are you doing tanking right now?
-
Answer: No, I do not.
Past that, however -- the reviews for that carrier seem to be rather good.
Caution: most drivers that switch over to tanker duty -- don't go back.
Why?
Generally speaking, & overall....better working conditions; better driver treatment/respect...by both carriers & customers; a more professional working environment.

I did trucking with and without a pet. The pet does make a huge positive difference and it also adds some difficulty versus no pet. Pets are almost universally not allowed in food-grade and Hazmat tanker. There may be some tanker companies that allow pets, I don't know of any. Tanker customers are so much more humane and reasonable it is the pace to be in trucking. Pets just aren't welcome in tanker as a rule. Heck some tanker customers, mostly HazMat which you reject, won't even allow a co-driver on the property for a load/unload due to liability issues.

Unless some sweet $120K+ line haul gig lands at my feet, I will be doing tanker until I retirejoshuapowell61, Speed_Drums, Nashville and 1 other person Thank this.

No I did oil field work for a month last year for a North Dakota company that up front seemed good but after a few weeks I realized that they have very serious issues and I did not feel safe continuing to work with them.
Most recently I was working with a farmer in my local area that has a trucking company, I did so over the summer because they allowed me to have time to visit my father who is currently in poor health in rehab after a recent hospitalization for a stroke. I'm looking to start with another company probably near the end of this month or early next month.Robilade Thanks this. -
Well this makes the thought of joining the tanking side less intimidating. I keep hearing drivers from dry van or even reefer side loving the tanking duty more. I will, however, miss bumping them dock doors...but I just won't mind tanking for sure. -
I can understand not allowing pets at a non food grade company due to being around hazardous chemicals all the time...but don't understand with food grade. I wonder why they opposing at food grade co?
