    You're in good shape.
The WC company that you'll likely be working with is called Segewick. They're pretty straightforward and professional. They don't call you every other day to find out "How are you feeling"? They let the doctors handle that. As a matter of fact, I never talked to them, (aside from the initial interview) until I called them and told them I was good to go.
I think you have to wait something like 10 days before the money kicks in, so you might want to burn some of your PTO, (I did).

Look, Moose, this is what insurance is for. Don't feel bad or obliged. Get healthy where you can safely get in and out of your truck and trailer, and beat me to the all you can eat buffet!

    Best wishes

    Thanks Opus.

I don't feel bad or obliged, just bummed that I was injured and can't do my job. But I am in no hurry to prove something.
My people have not pressured me in any way, and I doubt they will do so. They seem to hold me in as high regard as I hold them.
At least at the terminal level, I have no worries because they take care of me.

    Opus Thanks this.

Because in between home times I am always at work? Possibly.
I could make a case either way, and I am not even a lawyer.
And as such a non-lawyer, how do cases go when someone is getting ready for work at home and they trip and fall?
    Is that covered by WC?

That’s like comparing apples to oranges. An a local driver sure I have obvious times that I’m at work and not. You as an OTR driver that’s currently not on home time seem to have the lines a tad more blurry as to what counts as at work or not. Personally when I was OTR, every second I wasn’t at home I counted as at work.

But I am wondering what WC counts as 'at work'.
Has it ever been clearly defined for OTR/Regional truck drivers that basically live in the truck between home times?

Happened to me as well, I did get the attourney involved, the surgeries were paid, so was my wages and I got a 75K settlement in the end. Awarded by the court in Bakersfield.

It seems I won't be allowed to bobtail home like I wanted. They don't want the liability of me driving with the injury, even though I don't use that leg while driving.

A WC claim is now filed and they will probably have me go to a doctor out here and then work out how to get me home.
Just waiting to hear back from someone.
