yeah but lights with your 8’7 wide load makes the general public complacent, they think it’s just fine not moving over when they see oversize lights.
You’re making it hell for anyone moving stuff wider than the lanes. Same with guys leaving their signs up empty

Exactly! I pull large loads requiring lights, so when meeting another oversize with lights I should assume they are also a certain width, so I used to make effort to slow or make room, which majority of the time, it was for nothing, so I also have become complacent and don't give a #### anymore. Long as I'm in my own lane I maintain speed/position.beastr123 Thanks this.

There is such a ticket called...improper use of lights/lighting....hope you get it one day...just as in Ontario, the permit specifically says, no warning lights unless under escort. There's a reason states require them only for certain sizes. You are also causing a distraction to people, looking at you for no reason instead of looking at the road. Not everyone sees them as a warning. The way lawyers are today if you were to get into an accident they could put additional blame on you.Last edited by a moderator: Sep 22, 2024

Did you load that Biggie size thangy at Wendy’s

How wide do you assume a truck with caution lights is? What about driving in the states that require caution lights with every OD load?
What about when meeting an overweight vehicle required to have warning lights? They're not wide.
Reading permits is part of the job. If the permit states no warning lights, that does mean, no warning lights.
No different than the couple of states that require caution lights to be covered when not in use.
When pulling an OD load, I don't expect any part of the opposing lane to be surrendered to me. Of course it's nice when people don't crowd the center line.cke and Deere hunter Thank this. -
Obviously at least the width that requires the use of the lights??? Like wow seriously? Yeah I see why you run your lights constantly lol what a joke. You're exactly what's wrong with this industry. Sucking every last drop of professionalism out of it.Last edited: Sep 23, 2024

It was on the dollar menu

Illinois requires lights when you’re simply overweight. Since we want to talk about reading permits.
cke, 01HFT and Deere hunter Thank this. -
I have never read a permit that specifically forbids lights under a certain size. Just that they aren’t required. In some places lights can replace an escort and vice versa
