Unless something has changed since I had my own truck diesel is your biggest expense. That mean you have some control on how much money you want to keep for yourself or blow it out the stacks.

My company trucks get 8.0 without doing anything. 2022 freighter with automatic. It has electric a/c and heater that run on 8 batteries for 10 hour break. It has that hill mapping program. So as you get near top of hill it back off the power and coast over the top. You can adjust the settings if you on that if you want.

That guy Joe Morrow on FB has Volvo spec for MPG getting 10 mpg. He getting that new Volvo soon.

I honestly find it very hard to believe that pushing a hood is even significant in the total air drag that a cow bus produces
Not saying what you’re saying isn’t true but maybe there’s other factors that are being left out

You’re mixing maintenance aspects with efficiency aspects, to discredit the efficiency side.

You don’t think stuff gets tested in the real world, before going into production? If you think that, you clearly have no idea how things work and what’s running down our highways.

Why? The aero tractor is still splitting the same air, regardless of the trailer it’s pulling. It’s just doing it more efficiently than a hood.

I don’t think I’ve ever asked on this cattle Cascadia for as many times that you’ve mentioned it before, but would my assumption in it having a Detroit be correct?

Cab fairing and sleeper gap probably more so than the front of the truck. But that goes back to my previous post here. You’re not likely to find a short wheelbase hood with a roof fairing running with the trailer sucked up to even get a closer comparison.

The main part is the attitude of mileage doesn’t matter with a cow trailer but truth is it’s possible to see an improvement over what is considered normal.

Take my truck. Would I see anywhere close to my current mpg’s? Not very likely. Would I be in the upper 4’s like my brother? Very very doubtful.

Spec for spec pulling open deck (flat and RGN) an aero truck will net .4-.5 mpg better. That’s with the exact same driver and his habits.

that’s about 700 gallons over the 67k I do a year, or $2300 (at current price)

if $2300 is going to make or break me I would of parked the truck a long time ago….

Also easy to get good fuel mileage when you only run 40k behind you and don’t have any hills to pull

Feedman, Sons Hero, Ruthless and 2 others Thank this.
