It's dry van and you rent a trailer from them on a weekly basis from what I've read. They seem really transparent. The company is JRV Logistics and I've read a lot of good reviews about them as a company. Still, like you're all saying, if the spot market is terrible, it doesn't matter how good the company is when it comes to making money. Landstar was a disaster. I went there and left after 3 months.
Considering leasing on to a company that pays 85%

I’ve always been leased to a carrier and never once had to chase my own loads from the leftovers on the spot market. It wasn’t until 2021 that I started doing general freight stuff, but still. I will amend my statement even to go so far as to say there are plenty of companies to lease to that have freight and aren’t a mega.Deere hunter Thanks this.

If it’s JRV out of Illinois no way would I do it. First, it’s Chicagoland. Second, the address on their authority is a UPS store in a strip mall. Third, their SMS isn’t great.

I was with Schneider for a little while, a total scam. But I've managed to beat them, my total rate per mile was well over $3 when I was finished with them a couple months ago.

If you lease onto a company that is doing primarily spot market freight, the best advise I can give is buy your own trailer. Why the hell would you pay the note on a wagon for them?
And being able to book loads from "any" load board doesn't make anything better than the next...Loads posted on A are gonna be the same as B and C in the grand scheme... In nutshell, all spot freight now, no matter which board, is crap... honestly. Pick ur poison.
Trailer maintenance and ownership is very minimal... Why rent?77fib77, kanidana and Deere hunter Thank this. -

I sure hope you look at load board rates before you make your decision.
