Yeah, he was the real deal.
He came back to the states and they offered him a position at West Piont to teach English. He turned it down and moved to Nashville. Somewhere in the mix he flew for PHI (Petroleum Helicopters Inc) and was a janitor at Columbia Records. Legend has it that he flew to Johnny Cash's house and landed in his backyard and gave him the cassette to Sunday Morning Comming Down. After that, Johnny demanded that Kris be in all his recordings sessions....despite the fact that he was the janitor.

I was training Rangers at Camp Darby in Florida when my son was conceived (went back to Benning 1 night to bring back a replacement because one of ours went crazy) and was training Rangers at Camp Merrill in Georgia when he was born. Spent every Thanksgiving I was on active duty in Dahlonega...

 

Other half went and made a Critter visit and left me and the Boys to fend for themselves— we got no intention of starving to death— the HB even came off the hunt to share in the bounty
