Hey I’m 20 years old with a cdl-a with no restrictions I got tankers and tripes and doubles endorsement
i got in a car accident in February before I got my cdl at fault rear end driver had no insurance or license I got break checked but the insurance adjuster wouldn’t pull camera footage or look in to it so I just accept it was gonna be on my record
I’ve tried to apply to over 100 jobs did over 10-15 phone interviews and everything was going good till I said I had a accident most company’s said they don’t hire people with a accident in till it’s been a year old
I also have no experience I’m a fresh graduate from cdl school
also wanted to know if it would be smart buying a tractor and starting a business I have around 50k saved up and a 750 credit score and I got good business credit from a old business so I have the money to do it just wondering would I turn a profit not having contracts and insurance would be high
I live in Houston right now but I can get my license in Washington state applied to jobs in both places

hope not dumb twucker, tscottme and Peplow Thank this.

What footage? Did you have a dash cam that recorded the accident?
-
I didn’t have a dash cam it was a 4 car pile up they where all related it was on the highway and I looked it up there is camera right on the merge he merged over a solid double white line and break checked so all they need to prove is he was merging from that highway on the one I was on and the police footage would show the accident being on the double white line
hope not dumb twucker Thanks this. -
The cop also didn’t give him a ticket for not having a license or insurance i even ask the cop if everyone had a license and insurance he said yes I looked at the statements when I got home and seen he didn’t have it so I called the police station and talked to the chief he said he was sorry and shouldn’t of been handle like that they also towed my car to the police impound when I told them I wanted it towed to a crash center I would pay right there but the cops told them to take it to the police impound and not there

Getting a job under 21 in trucking is a bit of a challenge on its own. Either because the companies runs most interstate or the insurance costs are just absurdly high.
I started when I was 18 and pretty much only had two options til 21. A dump truck operation and then a mom and pop company that had me mostly doing local shuttle runs. Neither paid anywhere close to 21+ companies.
You will certainly have opportunities open up when you turn 21.
Your career definitely isn't over. Just stay persistent and get creative with your hunt. Yard dog, construction companies, recycling/waste companies, etc.Flat Earth Trucker and tscottme Thank this. -
They gave me the ticket cause I was the one in the back that rear ended him “causing him to hit the next car causing that car to hit the next one
