No big company's! Well tell us the ones that won't lease on older trucks since you say that none will?

And who cares about Carb and all the California BS. I took them off my cab card so I could care less what they do.

Most company i know of don't care about the year as long as it passes a federal dot inspection, there are some that want 5 years or newer but the ones i see are mostly refer outfits or tank.

Don't forget - Weight and Length are issues at some places.

an older truc with no paymet may end up costing more in repairs then a newer truck that you owe on will. i learned this the hard way. I? have a 91 379 that nickle and dimed me to death. then i got a newer volvo that runs great but i have a payment. ends up costing me less and im in a newer truck. If older is the way your gonna go, i got a 379 for sale

It certainly can. I'd only recommend an older truck to someone with the talent needed to keep it running reliably. Otherwise, I'd say go for something as new as possible while staying in the low-price/emissions sweet spot.

I sat down and did the figures one time, the cost was a whole lot cheaper to own an older truck than to make a truck payment. I guess it all depends on how dirty your willing to get and how much time you want to spend with your family?

I dunno...if you spend the time that you would wrench on an old truck to drive a newer truck, i think it may be more beneficial to drive the newer one. I for one make more driving then i could save wrenching

That is untill the newer truck starts having EGR and DPF trouble. Or sensors start going bad on a regular basis like has been my experience with newer trucks. This company put me in a 2006 Columbia with a Mercades motor for about 3 months. It spent at least half that time in the shop and the other half on its way to the shop and nobody knew what the hell was wrong. It would just shut off while it was going down the road. Now i'm back in a million mile Century with a 425 cat and ain't had near the trouble with it.
