Can't imagine what happened here. Road was too smooth and straight?

 

Roads aren't wide enough to accommodate playing with multiple digital devices and a foot on the dash. True professionals need plenty of width for swaying trailers and jerky steering corrections.

 

Where is this mythical group of people of which you speak

 

Well, well! I guess these driving schools shy away from taking the students on these skinny roads while they are in training and the bottom line is, in this day and time, most truck drivers are only experienced on "big roads".

 

I believe it’s exactly that. On the freeway, you see them swaying in and out of the lanes all the time ~ and you know why.

And then you wonder what they’d do if the road wasn’t so accommodating. Would they stop playing with their phone, themself or whatever?

I was delivering water the other day and got lots of mean looks and had several cops stop my for negotiating through a small NE Tennessee town. I had to take several restricted roads and at the end they were happy to see me. Towards the end I got a police escort.

So, remember this.....

Yes, there is obviously a need for companies to actually train drivers in UNUSUAL situations like this which will occur

And it isn't ever going to go well with the average mega-driver or certainly not most 21 year olds they want to put in trucks

.....but you never know where a truck is actually going or what they are there for. A truck may be hauling the pieces to get the lights back on or the bridge built.

And accidents are still gonna happen.

But without better training, patience and professionalism on all sides we'll see more of it.
