That wasn't my experience with KLLM in Burns Harbor IN. We had 8 students in my class, 2 per truck. Our day started at 6:30 am when I meet the bus and ended at 5pm, 6 days a week for 6 weeks. After the written part was passed, we drove half the day on the street and the other half was spent backing. We all passed our CDLs.
As for the contracts, well all schools that don't charge for tuition have them. I didn't feel cheated in any way, they provided me with a CDL, a decent single occupancy hotel room with a kitchenette and 3 meals a day for 6 weeks at no cost to me. After a year of employment, the contract was voided as fulfilled.
Is KLLM as solid as they say?

Not gonna lie, I was unhappy about the paycut. But considering other companies were all going out of buisness, I'd rather see a small paycut then people lose their jobs like everyone at Yellow did.
I'm on salary dedicated so I can't speak for OTR but I'm as busy as I was before the slow down. They didn't cut any drivers off my account but for awhile they didn't replace the ones that left. I've been seeing a few new faces around lately so maybe things are picking up.Lostmykey and FearTheCorn Thank this. -
Things are changing. Next time you go to the Fuel aisle look how many foreign companies and drivers that are operating here. They fly the drivers here and fly them back home. They are willing to work for a lot less, because they have no intentions of living here. The money goes further back in their own countries. They are not likely to be paying 1 to 2K rent a month in their countries. Even the big mega carriers relied on a spot market for backhauls. They’re almost not worth doing anymore because the foreign companies are doing it for so much less. Unless you were in a market, where the foreign companies have not come in yet… Industrial, Fuel, agriculture.. etc Your wages are only going to be falling. The company can no longer pay you if they don’t make any money. We can talk politics, but since we don’t want to, we can pretend that’s not the reason why things are the way they are..

Don't have to look far.
I see them everywhere.
The amount of trucks drivers that struggle to speak English and back a truck I see is astonishing.
They are also usually the ones washing their feet at the fuel islands and shaving in the restroom sinks.hope not dumb twucker Thanks this. -
They are a typical large trucking company, which immediately should be avoided at all cost.
