4 grand worth of stuff sounds a bit steep to me. But whatever... OK the other guys are right OOIDA is ya best bet many lawyers work for free till the case is settled and then you break em off a small chunk.
It sounds to me you may need to send the bill to your homeowners insurance company and get ya cash faster.
Back to my original statement, I carry a hell of a lot of stuff in my truck and I wised up and dumped a lot as soon as I got the chance but even with all that stuff it did not come even close to 4 grand. In fact ain't no way I'd fix up a company truck like a pimp's pad either!
Western Flyer Express cancelled my livelyhood!

I'm still trying to understand how the company is responsible for your personal belongings. I've been driving a day of two and have never worked for a company that would replace a drivers personal gear.
roaddawg92 and scatruck Thank this. -
That sucks

I just did a quick inventory of all my crap. Even including the laptop with all the fixin's, I can't get to 2 grand. (No way would I take a first line computer with me - just enough for my needs. Call it $1000 with printer and software, and other odds and ends). Clothes, fridge, hotplate...etc. Even the books I can't live without. Might total $1600 or so.
I'm not saying $4000 is wrong.. I just can't see how I could get that much crap on the truck.Last edited: Apr 18, 2010

If you include everything I have in the truck, I can get past 2500 real quick.
If I take my ham radio with me, as I often do, it goes over 4k. -
My truck is a used to be company truck my company gave me this truck basically and I grew up trucking here with my dad on worked on his farm all year round as a kid and I drove a flatop 379 that had a electric fire behind the dashbored and burnt everything he replace all 2,300$ worth of stuff but still 4k in a truck is like a ####load of money in a truck that you dont need
-
4k,who would need that much crap even the guys that live on the road all year round don't have that much crap. As for as a lawyer you need to get one in the state you reside call around i'm sure there are lawyers in your area that can help. Call OOIDA or one of them get a trucking magazine at a truckstop they have lawyers in there also that know more about the industry I would hope. And if the fire was because of a inverter you installed witout the company knowing then I could see the company hitting the DAC IMHO.

What I think a lawyer or even OOIDA is going to ask him is this, "Was all the stuff you lost something you required to do your job?" And of course the answer will be no and so at best he will probably get a $200.00 check in the mail.

Call Opie, he is good and knows trucking.
