Can’t even imagine how beat many of the “pre-ELD” trucks are now. Buy a truck for $50k. Drop another $100k into it. And at the end of the day it’s still 25 years old.

I know a guy from OK who has a little window Pete. He loves it and ran it all over the country. He parked it and took a company job driving a fairly new t800 with a lowboy. After a month he has his little window for sale. Says he has no interest in driving an old truck again.

 

That's crazy t800 is just junk.

 

If you think its easy you're a better man than I. Unless you love rebuilding them you will hate your life. Halfway done a cab off rebuild now and will probably never do that again, even if I was being paid $200/hour to do it.

 

What difference does it make when it’s a company truck. As we aged, comfort is our friend. I had a 1979 K100 Kenworth(parked) and I thought it was the best riding truck, I had dropped an air ride cab, Koni shocks. Drove the truck 23 years, eventually no matter what I did, it started beating me to death.

The hood different it's not the same truck. Motor is crap t800 along with cab is air tunnel.

 

It's a different truck cab is different. Motor is crap. Cab is air tunnel. Rides like crap. Has the rebar for suspension.
