Hi anyone currently working or worked for Ruan transport? I was offered a job with them hauling batteries out of there San Antonio terminal the pay is 27.50 plus time and a half over 40 hours. It sounds good but just wondering if it’s worth looking into.

I heasr RUAN, as a company is 150% safety oriented. To the point that they go overboard
austinmike and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this. -
That's good money for San Antonio.austinmike, Flat Earth Trucker and TX2Day Thank this.

I worked for them on the battery account and also their bread account . Great company
On the battery account I made over $90k back in 2017 , now you should be making over $100k easy . It’s one of the few accounts that pay you hourly for OTR / regional work as opposed to mileage
it’s pretty easy work you deliver new batteries and pick up cores , you have an electric pallet jack and a liftgate
also, something cool about Ruan is once you work a year on xx account, you can transfer to other locations all around the country
Negatives . Slow trucks (63-65) , cameras , lots of safety redundancy and micro managingLonesome, Opus, austinmike and 2 others Thank this. -
Thank you all for replies, currently I’m working for JB Hunt I’m used to slow trucks. You all mentioned there big on safety how so?
austinmike Thanks this. -
look up Megasafe7 . Thats their program and you hear about it non stop
Don’t get me wrong ,I’m all for driver safety but they go above and beyond and you start feeling like they’re babysitting you (my feelings)Lonesome and austinmike Thank this. -
Ok thank you for info, I will definitely make more with Ruan than with JB. With there Meagsafe 5 and 7 programs are they known to let drivers go is they think you are in violation of there safety protocols? I with you on driving safety but when I worked with an Amazon contractor there safety systems were very sensitive.

it really depends on the terminal and specific account ; Some are more strict than others .
They have a probationary period when you first get hired and that’s when people get let go for first time incidents that would seem minor . Their ‘newer’ trucks have all the safety equipment and the computer reports directly to safety department for everything from speed to following distance , hard braking , yaw , seat belt , AI cameras , etc . My terminal let a guy go for not using 3 points of contact , each time was a violation and so many violations get you firedLonesome and will083031 Thank this. -
What is the probationary period for them? Are you still employed by them? If you don’t mind answering. I’m just concerned about leaving my current job even though it doesn’t pay well I have my set schedule almost to the same schedule as Ruan
AZtruckdriver Thanks this. -
I believe it’s 90 days . I don’t work for them anymore ; unfortunately I’m an idiot and got into an altercation with one of their customers and I was fired ; they were nice about it though and on my DAC report it just shows “laid off” not fired
I’d still be there if not for that . I made good money on the two accounts .will083031 Thanks this.
