Well, the terminal has been there for years and probably survived many hurricanes already so I'm not surprised it's still standing lol

Definitely not a requirement. We have a drop lot right at the border in Champlain so you may get within spitting distance of Canada though. Try not to miss the last US exit or you will have to drive through the checkpoint. On more than one occasion I have seen drivers in a blind panic when they realized they had missed the exit and there was no way to turn around without driving against oncoming traffic.

I'm not sure but did you mention that your truck has a pump?
If not can anyone help me with this questions.
About how many times during the course of the year do you load or unload the tanker by using the pump ?
Is there a region that anyone has heard or experience the use of the pump more than other regions?
Thanks -
I heard that there was to be a customer serviced by the Cordele GA terminal that required pump tractors. No clue how accurate that info is, or if the customer even materialized.
Silverdriver and Tanker_82 Thank this. -
I think the pump trucks were originally based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and did a lot of oil loads (edible of course) from that region. I heard they switched to the Cordele terminal after that like Redtwin mentioned, but I don’t know much about them to be honest. Cobra can give far better info on that than me. He has a pump truck.Silverdriver and Redtwin Thank this.

Weirdly, the very few International tractors I have seen list Cedar Rapids signage vs the usual Winter Haven, but none of them have pumps.
I don't think any of the new Freightliner or Kenworth tractors have pumps so I don't think they expect pump work to increase.Silverdriver and Tanker_82 Thank this. -
I've been here for a year and probably done 10 pump loads give or take. I'm not sure about a region for the pump loads. I can tell you I've never picked up a load in California that was a pump load. Usually the loads coming out of Washington aren't pump loads either, but I have done one from Welch's in Grandview, WA that went to Springdale, AR that was a pump load. All of the other pump loads I've done came out of Cedar Rapids, IA or Headland, AL. I may have picked up pump loads elsewhere but I don't remember. There might be some pump loads out of the northeast too.
Edit: I just remembered I did pick up a load of cooking wine in PA going to FL once that was a pump off. Also the pump drivers are all based in Winter Haven nowFlat Earth Trucker, Silverdriver, nextgentrucker and 2 others Thank this. -
Guys!! I had an "Improper Lane Changing" citation fourth months ago and I checked my MVR, and I got 3 points on my license for it... How tight is IRT hiring requirements and did I screwed my chances with them?
-
That’s above my pay grade. Recruiting will be the ones who can give the most accurate answer. From what I’ve learned over the years, a lot of companies are limited on what they can forgive and overlook, because their insurance company is allowed to have a say in those matters. I had an accountant at my previous company tell me one time that he constantly shops for new insurance quotes, because they vary enough to justify switching periodically, which ultimately saves the company money. I don’t know if IRT does that or not, but what I’m getting at is, hiring criteria most likely changes from time to time for reasons that only management is privy to. I don’t want to speculate on something like that, because I’m not up to date on what the criteria currently is.Silverdriver and nextgentrucker Thank this.
