It’s not pretty simple. Is washing a truck work related if it’s my truck and I’m not mandated by the company to keep it clean. I could let it get dirty and not wash it for months if I wanted or I could wash it every day. When does it become work related
Personal Conveyance law and washing the truck on weekends.

It is simple, you just want to have your cake and eat it.
Are you claiming truck washes as a business expense on your taxes?Siinman, OldeSkool, Iamoverit and 1 other person Thank this. -
If not… do a good scrub on the weekend and before work on Monday take it back and spend ten ish minutes rinsing it while on duty. So if asked you say honestly that you rinsed it off on Monday while on the clock. But it didn’t burn the reset or log the whole two hours.

Truck wash is on duty event, what else could it be?
As far as I am concerned, life is too short for this petty crap. Take it to wash on P.C..and if they ask, tell'em you went to a restaurant...maybe they'll never find out.drvrtech77 and Iamoverit Thank this. -
I do agree with you.. me personally I don't see no problem with pcing to a truck wash... the problem is you have to always keep the dot man in mind when using PC. It's a gray area no matter what..and they are specifically looking for pc time on logs so they can write you up for it. Since alot of guys use it for stuff that is on duty
me personally If it is my only choice to get truck washed or f up my logbook. I will let that truck collect all the dirt in the world...Siinman and Sirscrapntruckalot Thank this. -
It is a tool, it is being maintained, so it is a work related activity.
When it has anything to do with the tool aka Truck.
Stop trying to split hairs with this, others have been doing it for a while and a lot of people are caught falstifying logs because of it.
The worst thing the FMCSA did was to say anything about it, before it was an unwritten loophole that exist but now thanks to those who want to use it to drive 700 home, we have more confusion, more abuse and more people thinking that it is what they want it to be.
The company sets the rules, if they say you can't use it, then you can't. If they put specific limits on it, then it is their rules.
Driving to get an oil change, or driving to get it washed or tires rotated and peed on, that's all maintainance and has been for decades. It won't change no matter who owns the truck, or who the driver is.Siinman, roshea, D.Tibbitt and 1 other person Thank this. -
Yes. It's very simple and clear to anyone with half a brain.
-
Well thankfully I have a full brain and that’s why it wasn’t clear to me.86scotty Thanks this.
-
Now when you put it like that it is simple I guess
-
Why don't you get your own authority and become a real motor carrier? You can cheat the rules all you want then.
