I have an offer to drive a hotshot pulling RV trailers. The offer is $800.00 a week salary and I have to pay my own taxes.( 1099 ) I'll be able to take home time whenever I want. I'll be driving a freightliner FL60 with sleeper running all 48. Does anyone know if this sounds good for hotshot wages ?

I assume you'll be paying fuel, plates, accessory taxes (anything not already listed), as well as insurance (both company and personal).

That doesn't leave a whole lot left out of $800 wkly salary. IMHO

I won't be paying for any of that. The owner will. He offered to pay me $800 salary no matter how many miles I run a week. I would be running out of Indiana, if I go to California and deadhead back or if I just make a few short trips it will still be $ 800 a week and I don't pay for anything but my food and showers.

I don't want to sound like a downer, but it almost sounds to good to be true. Are there any other drivers that work for this outfit that you can talk to/ ask questions of? How long has this outfit been in buisness? If it turns out to be on the up and up, it's a great gig. Just know that you'll have to sock away about $200 every week for taxes which still leaves you with $600 which isn't too bad at all. Good luck with it, I hope all turns out well. Oh and one more thing, save all of your reciepts for things you buy to help you do your job (which could include windex, paper towels, log books etc). When it comes time to do your taxes there are several things that can be used for deductions. There is also a $59 a day per diem tax write-off for every night that you're away from home. (My wife is a tax preparer that's the only reason that I even know this)!

I would be driving for my brother in law, he's been driving for 36 years. He pulls a reefer. He has two long time friends that pull RV trailers out of Indiana, and he is putting a truck on with the company they work for. He called me yesterday and asked if I would be interested in driving for him. I know he's talked with his friends about what a truck can make signed on with their company, I just wanted to get some opinions here on how it sounded because I'm not all that familiar with what this type of trucking pays. Thanks for your input, I appreciate it.

I added more to my last post about tax stuff and all of that if you were interested in any of it. But, I go out on a limb and say that it sounds really good then espeacially being that you're related to the owner. I don't see any reason why it shouldn't work out for you. Good luck!

The only way I see it not working out is if it doesn't pay what my brother in law has been told. I think the name of the company is Pinnacle Trans. If anyone has any experience pulling RVs for this company or any other I would appreciate it.
    TIA

You might try searching out Roadmedic, on these forums. I think he's had some experience tugging RV's for profit\loss.
