It seems that many who buy a truck and lease to a carrier don’t treat it as a situation that should benefit both parties involved. Too many want to call all the shots without the responsibility of being a carrier. You should be able to figure out a way to scratch each other’s backs and have everyone happy. And if that’s not the case then it’s not a good fit for either of you.
Rates are crashing and fuel to the moon!

Back when I was a much younger man, and doing retail warehousing and such, we had a driver named John who was our regular from corporate. Great dude- one of the hardest working guys I've ever met. I always made a point to work his truck first because he was right there slinging boxes and jacking pallets with us. Used to drive the other dudes nuts. "But I have an appointment!" "Yeah, well, we'll be done soon."
I imagine that your willingness to operate the pallet jack has won you friends in low places.Rideandrepair, Siinman, Deere hunter and 4 others Thank this. -
If we all did everything we wanted to all the time , it wouldn't be a job it'd be a hobby. Or as my Dad used to say "if this s#&t was easy they'd have little girls doing it"Rideandrepair, LoneRanger, PPLC and 2 others Thank this.

Update: Yesterday, I received the news that the normal players are going to be around 3k more per year than I’m paying now. My agent sent me a quote with Progressive that is about 3k LESS than what I’m paying now (says it’s the best he can do). Should I be worried? Last year I booked a load with a broker that had to confirm that Progressive wasn’t my carrier. I’m wondering how often I will run into this.Rideandrepair, LoneRanger and Oxbow Thank this.

I used Progressive for my first two and last year. I've never had an issue. Ever. I'd highly recommend Great West if you have the option though.Rideandrepair, Siinman, dirthaller and 3 others Thank this.

From what I understand they are not good for reefer and also no haz if your into that. Like the gentleman in the post above me said, Great West is top tier.Rideandrepair, Siinman, dirthaller and 3 others Thank this.

I’ve had great west and progressive. Will never do progressive again. They took me to cleaners to add a driver.
Rideandrepair, Midwest Trucker, Siinman and 3 others Thank this. -
Great west doesn’t do business in Mass
my progressive policy is up next month and I’m not renewing with them after dealing with this last wreckRideandrepair, Siinman and Concorde Thank this. -
I just got home and will be canceling my Progressive policy tomorrow. They sent me a bill for $52k one truck and trailer, lol. My agent on that policy was from NY and put no effort into finding something affordable or at least a bit cheaper.
Got an agent in Florida now that found me a same exact policy for less than half what progressive wants. Don’t know who the carrier is yet but I’ll pass it along to you tomorrow. It’s a A+ rated company so that’s good enough for me.
Was just planning to shut down until spring but it looks like I’ll give it another year and see what happens.Rideandrepair, Siinman, dwells40 and 1 other person Thank this.
