I don't have Thermoking anymore but do not remember any additional battery connected to the main board and can't find even one word about such battery for data logger in manual or on schematic diagram. What type of battery it was from Home Depo?

 

I don't recall the type of battery. The battery is small and in a plastic box, you can only see if after you remove the box from the board.

 

The only one additional power source on the main board is super capacitor to keep Real Time Clock running for two weeks if starter battery disconnected. After two weeks you need to set time and date to current. All other memory in Thermoking main board or MHI does not require power to store information. The problem could be technicians trained to work with newer models and have no idea about old.
