You've never driven a 750,000+ or million+ mile "never inframed truck" with those kind of intervals because they don't exist. Those minimal oil changes you're talking about work great for fleets on the cheap cycling into brand new equipment and out of it before it hits 500,000 miles. The next sucker who buys that unit has to deal with the consequences.

We are averaging 38k on an oil change, using OAs at 15k and 30k, with one at 38 to 40k.

I have million mile trucks that have given me emission nightmares but their oil consumption is on par with what is expected.

12k, even 15k is a waste, the oil may look dirty but it isn't worn out. 20k should be the norm and I haven't seen an engine manufacturer who has said 15k is the norm any more.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I just don't agree. I have a 97 3406E, and I am confident that I will have no problem getting 1.5 million out of it if I decide to not to overhaul it sooner. A newer engine will not make it that far in my opinion.

There were quite of bit of threads on here about NOT running ATF on electronic injectors. ATF was use on mechanical fuel pumps and injectors. Certain of us individuals switch to 2 stroke Wally World oil.

As I mentioned, I have the original injectors in my truck and have been using ATF for years without and issues. I know guys use 2 stroke oil for lubrication, I wasn't aware that it cleaned injectors as well.

    Diesel Dave Thanks this.

The biggest thing with these new rides is to keep the emissions system cleaned and maintained.. don't wait until it starts throwing codes and derates you on the road somewhere... I would recommend finding some service manual information and reading up on how your engine works, as well as the emissions system, get a good understanding of how things work and this will help you diagnose the problems alot better . Even if you don't turn wrenches on it yourself , you can point the mechanic in the right direction, and it lowers your chances of them just shooting a parts cannon at it while not fixing the problem.. which is usually a electronic problem or sensor

Get under that truck often. We would wash and grease the trucks every weekend. Downtime was virtually non-existent.

What grease you recommend? And guess I'm going out to get a gun to leave on the truck. Thanks for the advice.
Bushings are on the list as well, I'd bet money they are the originals with 315k on them.

    Ahhh, yes this makes sense!
And also, I keep a spare devco element on the truck.

Would using the pump (cause of cheaper) and dropping the boxed stuff in from time to time, help or would that be "defeating the purpose"
    The price difference is mindblowing!
