Contact Ontario's labor ministry and ask them about it. I don't think they can charge you for any damages.

By the way, you need to use shoring bars in front of the load.

When I came here they had me sign the contract in which it is written that if driver is at fault. He has to pay 5000 deductible. So if they filed the claim and I was wrong I should pay but if they dont even filed it and just lying and deducting my pay illegally then I can go to labour court. There are provisions to convert this locked permit to 1 year open permit.

Well, I’m walking away from this one. This is why rates are garbage. You came from another country to work in another country (Canada,) and then of all things coming down to a third country,- the states flooding the market and destroying someone’s freight. You got hired on a work permit as a shortage for truck drivers…Funny that you happened to be in Texas. No shortage here. No wonder rates are like $1.30 a mile. Well, this is making me go vote early. Catch yall later.

Unfortunately, it is in the contract that you signed and agreed to. In these types of contracts and situations, the company seems to always blame the driver. There is nothing you can do about it other than file suit, which usually is not worth it.

The driver is responsible for making sure the freight is braced/secure, no matter if the shipper took six hours to load it, wouldn't let you on the dock, or it was a sealed pre loaded trailer etc. Sometimes it's impossible for you to check freight, as with double stacked pallets. But you are the one that gets blamed if something goes wrong. Many times fine print on BOL will tell you this, but they want you to give electronic signature hefore you can read the bills. LOL

Also, if you had to slam on your emergency brake, you were too close to the guy in front of you.

It was not like I was speeding behind the other truck. The things is our trucks from canada are locked on 65 miles per hour speed. So trucks were passing me. And coming in front of me because speed limit is high there. Still there was distance of maybe 2-3 trucks. Never mind have to pay it.

    Diesel Dave Thanks this.
