Is this a true O/O company, or a L/P company? There IS a difference.

Either way, although they sound like they may be a step above a typical Northern Illinois company, tread carefully.

I own my own truck. I wouldn't do LP regardless. Those payments are too high.

Can you lease on with these companies owning your own truck but being a new cdl holder?

I didn't catch on til " flip flop express". But in reality they like to buy something they think sounds American. Or a pick of the flag, or the statue of Liberty.

I have been with Guardian a little while now and after a fifteen minute road test they gave me a brand new white volvo to pull a brand new white trailer. I am paid as a 1099 contractor, the company is out of Chicago, it is owned by eastern europeans, so Guardian Express definitely fits the stereotype.

They have turned out better than I was fearing. I am paid 70 cents a mile, guaranteed a $1,700 minimum as long as you work the entire week. They have 24/7 immediate support I am able to get a hold of right away even at the late hours of night. No inside cameras, only a forward facing one. 68 mph limiter when in cruise and 70 when pressing the peddle. 99% of the loads are no touch dry van freight. I have not gone west of Illinois yet but have not gone into New Your state yet as far as the north east goes.

The loads are usually short, normally 100-600 miles, most around 250. I normally get around 2,000 miles a week and they have paid the minimum each week. I have talked to other drivers and they say they do get above the minimum a good amount of time. They deduct the standard $2,500 for escrow from us company drivers at $250 a week when you are paid the $1,700 minimum. I have learned every detail about the 3/7 split sleeper rules thanks to having to use it frequently to make my appointment times. The dispatcher will push you hard at times but i have also had some days where i have taken 20 hour breaks as well and still making the $1,700 minimum for that week. It all depends on the appointment times but i am expected to drive as soon as possible and only then take the time off when i get near the receiver.

The company wants you to drive three weeks on and one week off. You will not get paid for that week off so you will be making the $1,700 three times each month. They tell me if I want to keep driving past three weeks it is fine, but I have my home paid off and enjoy getting a week off each month to spend at home with my wife so it works for me.
