I was driving home and I didn’t realize my light switch was moved. It was still light enough I could see so I didn’t realize. Instead of the officer giving me a heads up or warning I got a ticket. I’ve never been pulled over before a day in my life. If I attempt to get my ticket dropped and succeed… will I still have to retake all my CDL tests when I renew my license?

Dude, don't panic, go to the judge and tell him the truth and most likely it will be dismissed.

Is that considered a moving violation or an equipment violation?

Probably moving, the ticket doesn’t specify. I was almost to town and then I realized they were off after he turned his lights on

I see that everyday it seems. I was crossing the Sierra's on i80 recently, and it was just after dark. Some suv got on with no lights. Virtually invisible. I couldn't catch up B4 he or she got off. What makes me just as mad is the guy following him didn't flash there lights to get there attention. Usually drunks do this.

Actually, I think most of the time it's people coming out of brightly lit parking lots (Walmart, et al) and don't realize they don't have their headlights on. I've done it and I wasn't even drunk at the time.

I don't think anybody gets a verbal warning anymore. The problem is if a person gets a warning because the officer doesn't want the paperwork or to give the driver a break. If the driver is involved in an incident, lawyers might get involved and find out the driver had been stopped but the defect wasn't corrected.

I got one the other day. 61 in a 45. Cop had me, ran the license, came back, and said "I'm not going to burn ya, with a CDL. Just be more aware of the speed limits".

It was an area where it went from 55, to 45 because of a crossroads.
