I know @MIT is still alive and kicking, and is currently with a trainee.

Yeah still here. I’ve had a couple interesting trainees. Millis has become more of a hobby then a job. Think there is some saying out there about if you aren’t making money at it it’s a hobby. Idk
Supposedly switching to Stoughton trailers. That’s the big exciting new news.
Along with new KWs that have that automatic idle shut off thing a ma jig.

    Knucklehead and JOHNQPUBLIC Thank this.

I'm glad to hear you're still alive and well. Millis was a stepping stone for me, and driving was just something I could do for a few years before retiring instead of the lifestyle that some thought it was and quickly became something like home repairs to me. I could do enough to get by, but way more than I ever wanted to do. Especially with companies that treated drivers like easily replaced commodities.
I kept my CDL after retiring in case I need to go back to work to offset the inflation due to tariffs and losses in Social Security and Medicare that look likely after the election but I've had enough nightmares where I'm somehow an owner operator to hope I don't have to.

Has things picked up any at all? I saw a lot more Millis trucks this week on 77 and 81 than I've been seeing. Especially on 77.

    MIT Thanks this.

If things have picked up, no one has informed me. We do seem to be running a few customers pretty heavily. Beer loads I think but no real proof are way down. Though millis has increased the number of day cab drivers running out of Trenton substantially. Seems to be a reordering of strategy or lanes. NY practically non existent except for a couple customers.
A few weeks ago we all received emails from the CEO of Heartland. Outlining what to expect over the next year. Nothing good for drivers was gist of it.
I know the last several Millis drivers to pick up new trucks have not had refrigerators installed so if that’s the new trend that would be another thing that’s been taken away.

    dwells40 Thanks this.

I know the last Heartland quarterly report was bad. But I kind of got the impression that they were blaming CFI and Smith for missing their numbers. Not Millis.

Sucks if y'all are losing your refrigerators. Our older trucks where I work now don't have refrigerators so I've had to use a plug in cooler that I bought from a Pilot with points. They finally talked me into taking a new truck since my last one has been an absolute nightmare with problems and this one has a fridge. I have certainly missed having one.

Knucklehead, Still undecided and MIT Thank this.

Heartland essentially has bare bones trucks..no fridges and from what i understand no inverters either unless that’s changed..

    MIT Thanks this.
