Always hated going up there with a truck….
Canadianhauler21 Thanks this. -
I definitely enjoy the northern parts. starting in Saskatoon stretching out to fort mac and past Prince George. beautiful and peaceful country, I enjoy the areas with more industry rather than amazon warehouses and LCV switch points ( looking at you Maple Creek "esso").
Northern Ontario used to be a favourite run until about 8 years ago when the quality ofthe driver both car and truck took a nose dive and never recovered. I used to stay on 17 to avoid the crazy, once past nipigon all was well....not any more.
I would do some discussing things to get back out to the Maritimes though.... if i could run Montreal to halifax on the regular I'd trade in my MB plates today.
I think we can all agree however the amenities of the Interstate and even US routes by far out perform Canada. Western Canada has been making some ground in recent years with some additional stops but not much progress has been made in the 15 years that I've been doing this when we compare to our American counterparts.
The United States knows at least TWO things....and that's a snow plow and how to use it.
Thats right Saskatchewan its for removing snow.'88K100, Canadianhauler21, Albertaflatbed and 1 other person Thank this. -
You’re confused, it’s a high speed zamboni.
All kidding aside. It depends on the driver, some get it, some don’t. I have seen sparks off the blades most places and have watched plows driving down the highway with their blade in the air like they don’t know that it can get within 6” of the ground and not hurt it.Canadianhauler21 and Albertaflatbed Thank this. -
BC is by far the worst. Sand? What's that?

I remember driving between Moose Jaw and the Portal POE on hard-packed snow and ice. As soon as I crossed the border, the road was clear. I guess it stopped snowing exactly at the border.Magoo1968, Canadianhauler21, Albertaflatbed and 2 others Thank this.

I did it to avoid having to deliver, and to have somewhat of a schedule, without having to go city 14 hours a day. It was fun for a while, but as an O/O, I was making the same or less than doing single trailers to the US. Canada only single rates are always trash, so couldn't compare to that. What kills LCV, is zero parking, and what parking that has been built for LCV's (IE Med Hat Flying J, Grenfell SK Petro) are always full of singles that can't backup. Also the packed parking at LCV fuel stops like Balgonie SK Flying J, or Headingly MB Flying J makes everything a pain. Then there is the constant shutdowns for weather in AB/SK/MB, and all the route restrictions, crossing the highway restrictions, etc etc.
Just trash.Canadianhauler21 Thanks this. -
Yessir! Inter-City is even better! 1 DVIR a day (I have my truck and pup on one sheet) and a time card. No ELD, no GPS, no Camera's, Nothing. Can't beat it.Canadianhauler21, Isafarmboy and Albertaflatbed Thank this.

I had the same experience going south of Regina on Hwy 6 to Regway POE, soon as I crossed, clear black tarmac VS the Snow and Ice Covered Death ride from Regina to the POE.Canadianhauler21, Albertaflatbed and JC1971 Thank this.

For me, I just like driving out on the open road. I enjoy the scenery and the solitude.
Canadianhauler21 Thanks this.
