That's a bogus claim. Cummins engines from around that time - 2011 were indeed notorious for their failing fuel pumps. Some ceramic element in them was giving out? It was so common, that if someone bought a used truck from that time with Cummins, the advice of fuel pump replacement was the first thing they heard from people who wished them well.

Because it’s a 2011 and most likely an emissions motor that’s 13 years old and I would have to assume with close to or over a million miles even if it’s been rebuilt could you vouch for the parts or tech working on them. Heck even the factory remain motors seem to have issues these days.Bean Jr. Thanks this.

Pretty certain I read a thread on here a while back where the OP wanted to sue a shop over using a different brand of oil. Wonder if it was the same person?
-
Yes, but it wasn't for using the wrong oil, it was the wrong oil causing the problems talked about.

My mechanic said if the tech used gear lube, it would have been noticed right at start up with a very low oil pressure and trouble filling the filters.Bean Jr. Thanks this.

The news article looks pretty vague on info. Oil brand would be irrelevent so long as that oil met whatever designation the manufacturer required. Oil weight would also be irrelevent if it was approved by the manufacturer for the ambient air temperature and engine duty cycles. I also don't recall seeing how quickly the engine failed after the service.
