I doubt that a bike muffler would add any restrictions to a smaller displacement engine. Especially if you have to neck up the pipe size to fit it.

Half of the noise from a Carrier comes from the intake. Make sure the intake air filter is properly seated and there are no leaks. FYI Carriers (Kubotas) are generally louder than Thermo Kings (Yanmars).
