Been a while, seem to remember reading an article about why EV’s are a reasonable option. If memory serves me correctly, it said most people have an average daily commute of 45 miles round trip. Think it also stated with the average travel a person does for a week, they should only need to actually charge the vehicle like 2 times during that period. If that is true, then it would be a very cost effective solution.

Considering that most suburban families probably own at least 2 vehicles the EV pickup makes plenty of sense as long as you don't plan to tow with it. Still have the cheaper cost of operation of the EV for commuting while also having something that can do the weekend hauling for house projects. Then keep a sedan or crossover SUV as your gas vehicle because it will still get pretty good fuel mileage compared to a pickup and have plenty of room for longer road trips.
The problem is all the people who see an EV pickup with a 10K+ tow rating and then get surprised when it runs out of juice after 80 miles. The manufacturers need to stop advertising the crazy tow ratings without also telling people about the significant impact it will have on range.Kyle G., OldMainiac, CAXPT and 8 others Thank this. -
Resale is a big problem with EV’s right now. Some reports are as high as a 52 percent loss in value in the first 12 months.

Yeah, resale is terrible. My brother knows way more than I do about civilian cars, but apparently they're making cars now so if you try to private sell, they can "brick" it. When the buyer changes the title into his/her name, the manufacturer receives a notification and can easily tell it's a private sale. So they tap into the vin number and remotely program it to cease all operations. This goes for electric vehicles mostly, but modern gas vehicles as well. So they own you. If you look closely at the contract when you buy any vehicle including tractors, especially John Deere, the price of the vehicle is clearly stated a "lease" price. They can come and take your vehicle away any time they want, even if it's paid off. It's bad. That's why I'm an old school trucker.Kyle G., Feedman, broke down plumber and 3 others Thank this.

I was going to do that for a travel trailer so I can flat bed the truck and put a jeep back there.
I was going to use
Shocker Air Hitch Combo Ball & Sway Control Towing Kit
to help absorb the vibrations.
I totally expect to be on this post in 5 years as what not to do. -

I would love to see any kind of proof that any of that has actually ever happened.
EV and vehicle resale in general has been pretty garbage the past couple years because people were paying way over sticker prices for new cars and then trying to recoup those dealer markups in their resale prices. Now that manufacturing has caught back up to demand the vehicles from 2-3 years ago during Covid shortages have plummeted in value with dealers back offering incentives on new vehicles.
I bought a new pickup 2 years ago and at the time I could've sold it for 10K more than I paid. I got lucky that the local dealer was just trying to get rid of it after the guy who ordered it backed out on the sale. I ordered a new pickup Nov of 21, and took delivery June 22. I could have easily sold it for at least 10k more than I paid for it.broke down plumber, OldMainiac, CAXPT and 6 others Thank this.
