I don't want rant but whiles driving by a Tim Hortons truck which happens to be a LCV. Makes me wonder since they are making around $30/hr. Is that driver earning double at $60/hr. Its a rhetorical question but makes me think 'Why are these drivers trying to be heris..?' Especially in these times when these Canadian Megas onky try and nickle & dime the driver. Its higher probability rusk with a LCV so who's being impressed if the pay doesn't show the full potential. Yes, I know most might pay 1.5 times the rate but its still 2 (twice) the trailer.

I sure picked a bad time to switch careers.

The industry goes up and down. I’m betting things pick up strong once trump gets in. Don’t give up yet.BigHossVolvo, Phantom Trucker, Canadianhauler21 and 1 other person Thank this.

If you think things are bad now if Trump puts a 25% tariff on Canadian goods it will get much worse.Sirscrapntruckalot and BLBurton Thank this.

I've been hearing about that. Hope it doesn't go into play. If that ends up happening I can't even try for 4 years.

I started driving in 2008 and i don’t think i’ve ever seen it this bad . It’s really slow right now ,it seems worse on the american side companies closing up shop left and right . the biggest problem i’m seeing here is just a lack of decent well paying trucking jobs . it also seems like the south asians have completely taken over the trucking industry.upnorthwpg, Canadianhauler21 and zakman Thank this. -
Ya that sucks. Basically Canada went to all those South Asian countries and told them there's tons of jobs in Canada for them and took low qualifiers into the country. And unfortunately those guys do what they do in every industry - come in for cheap to get market share and just lower overall quality. My background is in software development and I seen that first hand. Yes I know what a huge change of pace that is lol. I don't want to be behind a desk anymore. Got divorced recently and looking to make a lot of changes. Don't want to die staring at a monitor.
P.S. I am also brown - Canadian. Worst part is first glance I will get slumped in with those guys coming in here looking to turn a quick buck. -
Yeah, I was 18 when I got my AZ. Worked at a couple of carriers until I was 21 but none of them paid me. Went to challenger at 21 years old and been solid since. You have the best chance of finding a job in the GTA.
Literally as soon as I got hired with challenger the job offers came rolling in. It's like nobody wants you until you're actually in a truck.zakman Thanks this. -
I'm in the GTA so maybe that will help.Canadianhauler21 Thanks this.
