Do you clean your truck before handing it?

Dump a few bottles of cheap Walmart perfume into the air-conditioning/heat ducts and it will be just fine.

I did that to one driver for revenge and when he went home his wife told him he smells like a truckstop hooker.

 

How does someone stand that?

 

I am not a clean freak as in we're in the dirt all the time and a bit of dust doesn't bother me, but garbage thrown on the floor is forbidden, and a mess like that ......I'll bet his paperwork was a mess too. My God how could anyone do that.

When I was over the road in the late 80s and early 90s we ran pretty hard, but I 'll be ###### if I could take off without my bed being made. That, and I had to grease my truck once a week, regardless the weather.

 

I do the same thing.
I even keep my house clean.
If I live in it it’s going to be clean.

 

I always clean it up before I turn it in. It's the right thing to do.

 

Why's it even a question? Momma ain't there to pick up after you clean the #### truck.

 

Well, if there's an upside to that pigsty, at least they didn't throw it out the window.
Not sure it's been said, but when getting a truck, take pictures. It holds up a lot better than heresay,,

 

I worked for a company that a driver got fired from soon as our boss saw his truck. It didn't look quite this terribly bad, but it was still bad. Trash was stacked level almost with the bunk on the floor. No food waste, that I remember, but it was still bad. He was fired on the spot no questions asked.

To the OP, I would clean it if I was turning it in. I usually use meguiars on the floor (if its not carpet) and wipe everything down with it as well. Use a different rag of course for the dash and other areas than the floor.

 

Personally when changing trucks was something I had to worry about, I replaced the mattress and anything else that I didn't think was safe for me to use, then I cleaned EVERYTHING including side boxes. Now days I wouldn't get in a strange truck to clean without a hazmat suit and respirator.

 

Sadly these skills arent taught anymore and are optional at best. As a result many dont have the commom sense god gave a tree stump. Not to mention a few of the cultures that have come here arent used to the idea of cleaning.

So many of us intead of shameing or attacking anyone. Just try to educate. Much more likely a firm but polite correction will stick then getting up in someones face. Course the latter is if not effective a good secondary option when the former fails.

In all seriousness though. Manners, common courtesy, a work ethic and good sense just are not a cultural norm anymore.
