First day of self taught Lohr Carhauler training went well. Didn’t tear anything up and I learned quite a bit. I don’t normally need to load big. I want to be proficient doing so if I have to and know approximately how tall I will be. 3 full-size pickups on the tractor will be my biggest load and after a couple hours I fairly well have it down low enough for me. The pictures are for reference to show where the decks, except the front deck would be set for 3 pickups on the tractor.![]()

I love that you are practicing with your new equipment before hauling a revenue load. It appears that all those years of regimented training is still paying dividends. I always practice privately before doing anything new, or using new designs, in public.
Thanks for sharing. I hope your new Lohr exceeds your expectations. -
@Banker I just saw this reel on Facebook. That looks like your rig during the brief period you had switched carriers. Could it be?

He was the Top salesman at one of the Chevy Dealers I used to deliver to all the time. I showed up on a wrecker one day when I blew a turbo and he said “only you would complete your delivery even if it took a wrecker”! I am not sure if I was at NAAT in that picture or Hansen. He has a YouTube channel.Hammer166, Tall Mike, D.Tibbitt and 1 other person Thank this.

Old Habits are hard to break Brian. Today I did some more “training” and with input from a couple of carhaulers who I have great respect for, I learned even more about professionally operating my Lohr. So far I really like my Lohr and the people at Lohr are a big part of the reason.EvertonP, Hammer166, brian991219 and 2 others Thank this.

This post... It really touches on what's happened to our segment of the industry.
No one tries new things to learn their equipment anymore. There's such an overemphasis on speed to the exclusion of everything else. We had a new guy last year, and you'd see him trying stuff that wasn't going to work, but when I'd stop to talk to him, he could explain exactly what he'd hoped to accomplish. He was just learning to a carhauler. The rest of the idiots I work with would just be giving him crap for wasting time. He was already a better carhauler in less than a year than any of them were after a decade, and they're talking ####.
It's frightening how fast the knowledge base in carhaul is evaporating into thin air.LBZ, Kawinige01, D.Tibbitt and 4 others Thank this. -
@Banker.
If you actually can load 3 pickups on the tractor, I don’t think I want to be your friend anymoreKawinige01, Banker and Hammer166 Thank this. -
Can you load the top rear position backwards? I’ve noticed I got a few inches lower there with the long box trucks.Banker Thanks this. -
I showed this to @Banker the other day... There's only a few circumstances where you can (or need to) vee the Lohr. This is one of them. It would have probably been 13'6" if I'd have come forward a couple feet on top.

Jack Cooper taught me how to do it many moons ago. This truck makes it much easier than back then when I needed one regular cab to do it. Occasionally now when I am having a bad day(two drops) putting 3 on the tractor would make my load easier. The majority of the time 3 or 4 Tundras is all I get and they generally go to one drop so I can spread it out on the whole rig easier.brian991219, Rugerfan and Tall Mike Thank this.
