Theft has gotten so bad, walmart is now doing this..

I stole when I was a youth, then I realized that it was better to get a job, work and I could make enough money to buy what I wanted. It's been true for 40+ years and apart from hearing thou shalt not steal in a sermon occasionally or an upholding criminal law approach like you mentioned the problem continues.

 

The cameras above self checkout catch not only things that are weighted wrong if you slide something like a kool aid under a steak it recognizes the weight is greater than a kool aid pack. We can also read text messages they are so good. Only my department has access to the actual camera not even the store managers can.

 

I've seen people with baby strollers that have double bottom and double canvas back and they stuff items there. You may have seen those also.

 

I've seen elderly people with walkers similar to this that were shoplifting food.

 

People try anything. I have seen so many different ways.

 

Winter is the worst. People wear huge coats knowing we can’t touch them and in Charlotte if it’s not one of our flagship stores police response is a hour or 2. I had 2 managers in a week arrested.

 

Some managers are the biggest crooks. I've watch them in the wee hours of the morning, hauling stuff to their car. Cases of cigarettes, meat, anything else they wanted. During inventories, when things were missing, they'd blame employees or truck drivers that made deliveries.
