When dumping on the run what speed you looking for ? Some auto's have a couple of creeper gears .
cke, tramm01, pete781693 and 2 others Thank this. -
I never looked at the speed, just tried to keep it the same throughout the spread. If you go too fast with that box in the air you can put some early wear on your pins.
If you're spreading wet material it works better if you open the chains a couple of links.
If you're spreading dry material and you get a good first spread the customer will expect the same every time.
If you're doing the blade and roller work after the spread, or if your company is, you can fix a lot of small mistakes.
If the consignee is doing the road work you'll hear about every thin spot and lump. Customers with no real rock experience never order enough material and after the first rain they're yelling at you on the phone 'cause their rock is getting pounded down into the mud.cke, tramm01, JolliRoger and 6 others Thank this. -
That's way too many options for me. I just need one to scatter dry manure.

I spread 610 with 5 chain links open and 57 with 6 links. Im not proficient with clay gravels as the moisture, size and "tackiness" is all over the chart around here. I move off in low side, third forward gear about 1300 rpms to give me a good walking speed. Problem I have is with the rounded bottom demo bed, the path tends to start to narrow up considerably before it is empty. Therefore have to start spreading while rolling early on the subsequent load to make it nicely uniform and smoooove.
cke, High Stepper, tramm01 and 5 others Thank this. -
