Question about maximum cargo weight

    LTL companies did this in the past when single axle trucks delivered freight on 28 ft pup trailers, a lot less money to register and license.

    I once hauled a load of goose down from Bellingham, WA all the way to Newark, NY. Twelve thousand pounds, total. I flew up Snoqualmie, flew up 4th of July, and probably set a record for the fastest passage across the high plains ever attempted with a JB Hunt 300hp cabover....

    That's what I'm thinking. Over registered weight -- that would be a doozy of a fine, if that's the case.

    My company had some lightweight spec Freightliners with lightweight spec 53 foot trailers. They could get like 50,000 lbs in dry van trailers and still be legal at 80k. None of their customers took advantage of it. So they stopped getting that setup and went back to regular trucks and trailer.
