I think for $280 you can get a brand new Truck and brand new Reefer. The equipment he’s selling is wore out. It’ll cost more than their value to keep them going. Especially the Truck. Reefers get waterlogged over time. They get less efficient and heavier. Get your own Authority if anything. Knowing nothing about the Industry is almost guaranteed failure. No One with any experience at all would ever go for a deal like that. Contracts are usually only 1 year. Often open end contracts that can be broken by either party for any reason. I’ve seen others step up and take the Business after someone hangs it up, or doesn’t perform well. Yes the same ones who were working for the former. Brokers do the same when an opportunity opens up. No apologies at all. Whoever can cover the freight usually gets it. Plenty others are ready to pounce on your new customer, if given a chance. Reefer lanes change with the seasons. That doesn’t mean you have to follow demand. It does mean that rates change constantly due to supply and demand. For instance, when produce is running strong in Florida, Dry Van rates go up. It’s short lived, otherwise Dry Van rates are the worst. Mainly because of competition from reefers looking to get back to their good paying refrigerated loads. They grab anything for any price to at least cover fuel costs.

what good is a non compete clause ? I've been told it's not worth the paper it's written on . I had a former employer have me sign one when i hired in mid 90's . I left and informed my nxt employer of it , their lawyer laughed and said you're not an indentured slave it's a scare tactic .exhausted379 Thanks this.

You are correct for ‘rank & file’ employee’s a non-compete does not have much teeth in it, for company owners that sell, and high ranking corporate management that have policy making decisions, then non-competes are enforceable, whether or not an organization that encounters an individual that is competing against them that signed a non-compete clause, the outlay of money to legally enforce is a strategic decision.broke down plumber Thanks this.
