Try slip seating in a day cab with chain smokers. What kills me when I was hired I was told XYZtrucking has a non smoking policy. They don't enforce it. What is the difference between my smaller than a restroom cab and the boss's office? Fighting this is rather precarious. I need to hold onto my job until I burn up my vacation. I need my vacation to relocate my wife, and get her out to see her grandkids.

I smoke in mine, but I'm not one of these two or three pack a day guys, and it gets vacuumed and the ashtray sucked out every time I get fuel.
bottomdumpin Thanks this. -
Tobacco residue is present in dust and on surfaces throughout places where smoking has occurred. This toxic sticky residue can reemit (off-gas) back into the air and recombine to form harmful substances that remain at high levels long after smoking has stopped.
I just switched companies. At first they gave me a 2020 KW t680 with over 540,000 mikes on it, no biggy. It was an automatic and had issues building air so whenever I feathered the brake, the transmission would lose air and I had to wait for the air to build back up in order to move the truck. However it was well detailed and had no odor, I just couldn't deal with the automatic not responding well.
Eventually they have me a 2023 with a manual, it drove and rode alot smoother than the 2020 and of course 100% better than any cascadia crap. The only problem with the truck was who ever drove it before me was an absolute pig. It reeked of cigarettes and took me 2 days to get the stench out.
Started by using a vapor steamer on everything. The upholstery, seats, dashboard, cieling, curtains, inside the cabinets, under the bunk also smelled like cigarettes. The inside windows had a yellowish film, I finished with the floor. The mattress had plastic on it so I got luckey there.
Afterwards I sprayed everything down with a cigarette smoke eliminator and then vacuumed. I then wiped everything down with a leather and fabric treatment. The final step was the ozone generator, I let that run for a couple of hours with the windows cracked. Changed all the cabin filters (2) and put air fresheners around. You can't tell that anyone has ever smoked in it.
I'll never understand why anyone would want to inhale poison in the first place or poison others. I had to do this with another truck when I was with another company. Totally disgusting.tscottme, Accidental Trucker, TNSnowman and 1 other person Thank this.
