I'm surprised Goodwill didn't put you in one of their own trucks especially after paying for your schooling. Sounds like you would do best by waiting it out and having a few carriers to pick from instead of just taking the first thing that comes along.

Another thing to consider is that this time of year isn't the best time to look for a job and the economy sucks too. Once one or both of those correct your choices will also grow. Good luck either way.

The forum benefits when you say all you want to say, the way you want to say it, and everyone else does the same.

They would have if they had available positions in my area.

    Update:
My recruiter from Swift informed me that they should let me know if I'm good or not by tomorrow, moreover I did receive a copy of my background check and MVR. My Credit Card Abuse case had aged out, so the only thing on my record is the felony deferred case I'm on currently.

Road train member had good advice, for now anyways. Part of the problem with felonies is carriors insurance for some companies. Ive had weapons felonies from 40 years ago haunt me. But in time was able to get a twic card an haul hazmat fuel OTR to military bases. That took about 7 to 10 years in Oklahoma to drop off my record. Point is you wont always have to face this problem. Perks of running local are? Past not held against you...unless your still on parole/ probation. Perks of runnin local? Really good experience you need in a big rig driving...home every night an weekends and a driving record of no accident and no speeding tickets etc. I ran 10 years as a bulk hauler pulling a pnuematic bulk tanker trailer making 50,000 plus a year haulin powder to cocrete plants, fertilizer to the coops...or you could run frack sand to the oil field. Do tha and then take your 401K in cash an put that money down on a truck n trailer and lease on as an owner operator. Its all good Getterdone!

It's funny that you mentioned TWIC because I got approved for mine today. I should be getting it within 5-10 days.

One thing I learned is this, whater liscense or endorcements ,twic card etc. Dont ever let them go. You might " Oh I dont need that any more an let it go"...then the day comes when that liscence or endorcement is just what the carriers looking for an means the difference of gettin the job, or not.

    Update:

My application at Schneider fell through but not because of my background. They filled the position I applied for.

Swift still has my application pending for final review. I won't hear anything from them until next Thursday according to thier security team. I'm hopeful for this company because they've kept me posted throughout the whole prehire process.

I also have a friend who is looking for a truck driver for his company as well
, so if everything falls through I can go work for him until I get off papers.
