Where is your location? Not your address, just your state & nearest town/city & zip code.

This one might put you in an OTR cargo van. For the large box trucks & tractor-trailers, need 6 mos. experience as a CDL-A driver.

Did CDL school ask about your driving, criminal, employment history when you signed up for school?

Did you ask school if this would be a problem before you started school?

How did you decide to go to CDL school?

Maybe not list "working for cash"
Just say you were "Mother/housewife/caregiver" all three at the same time. Juggling 3 jobs at the same time. No pay because caregiving was for a family friend.
Sometimes, for self-preservation, we just have to stretch the truth a little. Everyone does that on occasion and even the self-righteous do-gooders do that.

Note also....that the above commentary is still accurate -- the CDL job market is sloooooooowww right now, especially for drivers with no previous CDL class "A" experience. Carriers are now more picky, & likely to pass over an application that isn't complete &/or clean.

    Thus, some suggestions:
    • If you don't already have the relevant CDL endorsements, go back & get them: tanker, hazmat...& also doubles/triples. Those endorsements on your application will help distinguish you from other applicants who don't have them...& will show prospective employers that you are indeed serious (that's part of how I got my first CDL gig -- I also had a sketchy employment history then).
    • If Schneider doesn't offer you a job -- you might try filling out an application with this carrier:
Entry Level Drivers | Truck Driving School Graduate | Less Than 6 Months | CDL | Wiley Sanders | Troy, Alabama

Southwest Virginia; that's close enough since you're not looking for local jobs.

Myself and some others will find some companies that hire in Southwest, Virginia.
Don't forget to update your applications when you start applying again.
