Mean ### ponies……never seen a pony that wasn’t the devil or that didn’t at minimum hate my guts.

My kids had a Welch and Quarter gelding with absolutely no withers. He made both of em top hands at gettin a deep seat. I won’t even talk bout that stud Jack that stood 44” at his withers #### his mean ###. I gave his ### away and delivered him for free just to get shed of him

Which way are you fearing it may fall?

Best plan I can come up with quick is to use a couple of microlams as rack braces, through bolting them to the existing timbers if they still have good wood in them. That should at least hold it until you can come up with something a bit more period correct.

I was going to reuse the roof tin on my 60 x 80. The roofer and my wife both said to just put new tin on and be done with it. I'm like you, new tin was worth every penny.
We also put 2" closed cell spray foam on the walls and ceiling. I have a 125K BTU forced air heater hanging in one corner. I can set the thermostat on 50 and it will stay 54-55 consistently. 55 on the thermostat keeps it at 61-62. When the heater runs, it's maybe 15 minutes at the most. I also have 2-52" ceiling fans 1/3 of the way from each end, blowing downward. I think that really helps keep the temperature more steady.

When I was a young un my dad brought home a Shetland pony that did not like to be ridden. My mom had a big cluster of Lilly plants growing in the front yard and that pony would head right for them and lay down amongst them. Needless to say that pony did not stay around very long.

Later we acquired a Welch Pony that was an easy rider until you headed home, he was barn sour and there was no stopping him until you got back to the house. I had ridden him up to the ball park one day. We headed home and he was somewhat controllable until we were about 1/2 mile from home and he took off. He darted across the roadway and rounded the last corner before home. As we rounded the corner he lost his footing and down we went into the ditch, taking a neighbor girl with us. I never rode that pony again.

The smaller one gets on her belly right beside the fence n rolls herself out...just for spite! Til I catch her out n giver a good run with the quad away from the corrals then sit n watch. She knows where the gate is. All 3 are good with kids.
