The wife and I have purchased a new 2025 destination travel trailer and are moving to Dothan RV Park on US 231 just south of the Ross Clark Circle. Nice rv park and close enough to what we need. Drop an email and we can hook up for coffee. We arrive Feb 1

On my way back to Memphis, by way of Houston. Did my numbers for last year. I’ll post everything when I’m wasting the 2 hours of my life with a layover at Houston airport. Taking off, need to put the phone in airplane mode. Don’t want to inadvertently bring the plane down because of texting.

Here are my numbers for the past year. I started this job exactly a year ago today. So I had the whole year of 2024 under my belt.
I ran a total of 88,998 miles. I grossed, with my salary, holiday bonus, mileage bonus and 2 weeks paid vacation, $90,288. I was reimbursed $5787 for travel expenses going home and back. I got to keep all the points I accumulated on my American Express card, which right now will pay for one business class ticket when my wife and I go overseas this summer.
I also took my monthly SS payment every month. I hit my full retirement age 2 years ago, that comes to $2967 per month on top of all my earnings. I figure if I’m still working, at the top of my SS benefit, untaxed, I’ll take it.
My job is not for everyone. The worst part for me is switching from days to nights and back to days. The best part for me is the hometime. I worked a total of 40 weeks this past year with 12 weeks off. This job is perfect for me. In one year doing this, I haven’t once been on one dock, I haven’t once picked up a box, I haven’t once had to deal with a shipper or receiver, and best of all, I haven’t once slept in a truck stop, not once had to fight for parking, or play the 30 minute break at the fuel island escapade.
Now that the holiday rush is over, my contractor bought a few new contracts in Savannah. I was asked if I would transfer over to that hub and work Linehaul as a solo driver. I immediately said yes. Though I truly enjoy working out of Humboldt, even Memphis, I do like a change and am looking forward to new scenery. Right now the plan is for me to bobtail from Humboldt to Savannah this weekend. Any questions? Just ask away. Happy New Year, be safe and healthy!surf_avenue, Sustanon, DonRobbie and 14 others Thank this. -

Hope everyone survived the big Mid South snowstorm. Been rather quiet in the package world. Was doing a run since Monday that I did when I first started. Double Dyersburg to Memphis. Start at noon, done and parked at 8:30. Was ordered to shut down in Humboldt Thursday night when I got back. Bobtailed to the Pilot in Jackson and was shut down yesterday as well. It’s nice to be able to shut down, not worry about “miles” watch TV and get paid. Just now got my assignment for today and tomorrow. Running a double Humboldt/Olive Branch today, and a double Memphis tomorrow. Monday I’m training a new driver. Actually, he’s my replacement here, I’ll be leaving for Savannah on Tuesday. Be safe everyone!
