Just put a reman AD-9 on my truck with an N14 C+ (I bet you can guess where this is going) with a QE style compressor. This compressor needs a 4 port dryer, so I had to drill and tap a new port for the "Econ Valve." Trouble is, this reman dryer has a hard seat purge valve, and this setup needs a soft seat, which I was unaware of at the time of purchase. Do the hard and soft seat valves use the same housing? I'd rather not pay $300 for a whole new purge valve since that's more than the whole dryer cost, and instead just rebuild the valve with a soft seat kit

A soft seat can be substituted for a hard seat.Rideandrepair and NebraskaGMC Thank this. -
Yes I'm aware the entire assembly can be substituted, which is what I'm trying to avoid. I'm asking whether the rebuild kit with a soft seat plunger will fit in the housing that had a hard seat.

Curious to hear how others manage maintenance on these – do you stick to OEM parts or go for aftermarket replacements? Also, any tips on extending the life of the purge valve would be awesome to hear!

In the great white north of Wisconsin we replace the entire dryer if there is any problem. Calcium chloride, beet and pickle brine a liquid road salt don’t play well with aluminum and steel or copper.
Ok. I understand. I’m sorry I can’t answer that.arthurjohnston Thanks this. -
I know it's 9 months later, but my dude, do you not do research? A bendix reman valve is $100 at fleetpride, and the otr version is like $40. A little research goes a long way in saving you time and money.
