Well, I didn't see this one coming. TFI bought Kindersley Transport about a year ago, and pumped an insane amount of money into them, with brand new KW trucks, new trailers, a new terminal here in Calgary, etc etc etc. TFI was using Kindersley and CF to come after our LTL freight hard, and if you asked them, they were going to run the LTL game in Canada in less than 5 years.
Well now they're done, 100% of the staff and drivers were canned, terminal is closed, and all that new equipment is being spread out across the rest of the TFI companies.
A freight broker was telling me, that 52% of freight hauling trucking companies in Canada, have gone bankrupt. Glad I switched to dump trucks.

Interesting. Back in June Kindersley discontinued their small package courier service.
Suspect that they weren’t performing all that well as a company and it reached a point where TFI decided to shut it down and service Kindersley’s customer base through TST-CF.BigHossVolvo Thanks this. -
So according to this freight broker over half the freight hauling companies in Canada have gone bankrupt ???I know there have been some bankruptcy's but no where near 52%EvertonP Thanks this.

i cant find any data to support it, but its too early for this type of data to be available as far as i can tellPhantom Trucker Thanks this.

I’m not surprised. That’s why Bédard runs all the companies separate. One underperforms, you can dissolve it without affecting your money making companies.

It might be that high. Most brokers deal with these fly by night, one truck wonders. Tons of them going tits up and going home. Most of these outfits are one tow away from bankruptcy.BobO1176 and BigHossVolvo Thank this.

Companies still hire the 3rd party carriers at a discount only to fail on a timely delivery…January 12th Hwy 17 Ontario 270 Km ( just west of Ignace) unforgiving ditch.

I know the mega i work for does ,I found out my friends co workers wife works for my company . She says our company sells off more loads then we haul . I See the Brampton companies coming into our yard all the time . Only problem is you shoot your self in the foot because then they steal those contracts down the road at a lower rateMagoo1968, '88K100, peterd and 1 other person Thank this. -
He actually ownes a freight brokerage and also does rail. This 52% number, is all the authorities listed as "general freight", so that would include your 1-10 truck companies, scabby power only Brampton/Surrey units, and the like. I personally feel this is accurate, the truck parking yards are overflowing in Calgary, I NEVER see certain companies anymore (and i'm on the main roads all day long, doing truck and pup). Not to mention the Pride fiasco, which they're still renting yards to park all the trucks, once they get repo'ed/turned in.

Or they were on the Pride, one stop, never never plan! (Truck, Fuel Card, Insurance package deal, one low low payment) lol.
