FMCSA emergency declaration

I always find this hilarious.
“These are the rules set in stone and you will be punished to the highest extent for breaking them at any time. Unless of course, it’s for helping us out of a Jam. Then you may run hog wild. “

 

Right? Ive always wished someone would do a study on accident rates with and without rules and publish it. My gut feeling is that there would be far FEWER wrecks overall since most people will stop when they hit their safe limit. But that the ones there were would likely be fatal to the driver more often.

 

I agree. Years back when I-29 dang near washed out between St Joseph, MO and Omaha NE, the company I was with at the time got letters to put in our trucks that we were exempt from HOS rules and weight limits. Which is pretty much the exact wrong 2 things to tell a dump truck company.

 

Remember Como said during COVID "no one in or out of New York".......except for truck drivers. It's all fun and games until you get hungry.
