If your company has given you the legally required training to be a certified brake inspector, and if company policy allows you to adjust them yourself, then I see no reason not to.
How do you adjust the trailer brakes?

No. My company has not given me the legally required training to be a certified brake inspector.
Are you saying that it would be illegal for me to adjust the trailer brakes myself? -
Yes @RockinChair has a point, he could be correct. Most companies have a manual for there employees on what they can do or not. Better look into it.
Bean Jr., Numb and RockinChair Thank this. -
As others have mentioned a 9/16 wrench. But you need to make sure you don’t over tighten them because if you overtighten them, you can smoke your brakes or even Start a fire. In a pinch to get the tandems to slide Use A wood block or a piece of stone or something To keep them from rolling.

RockinChair is saying that there is some type of legally required training a driver has to take to adjust trailer brakes. Have you taken this legally required training? What do you have to say about this?RockinChair Thanks this.

I’m just answering the original question. I’m not offering legal advice. I will say this, though, having been at this game for a while,,, I have never ran into a shop manager, That if you called him and spoke with him about brake issue as described in the original post? That would not appreciate a driver who knows how to adjust his own brakes. Why? Because it’s gonna cost him about $500 If he has to send someone out there to do it for you. If the law says you need some kind of certified training to be able Do this then thats what We probably should do.expedite_it Thanks this.
