Leasing your truck to a carrier and leasing a truck from a carrier are two different animals. Leasing your truck to a carrier has been a viable business model since long before deregulation. Contract rates aren’t $4-5 a mile for general freight. And anyone doing specialized freight will be getting paid a percentage.

like i said i know nothing . I would think owning or leasing from 3rd party like freightliner for example then leasing onto fcc or landstar for 2 examples would be far and away better than a Company L/O . As ive seen some offer up to 90% of line haul.

hahahaha, yep. but some truckers want the title, you know . they are called OWNER OPERATORS , so the title it his more important. little they know is that they are the cheapest labor out there. no benefits, no medical insurance , no 401k, and responsible for truck payments and fee payments, repair payments and also they are treated like crap.broke down plumber Thanks this.

I don’t have any care about a title or what other people call me. I like choosing what I drive. I like choosing when I work. I like choosing where I go. I get to own the truck I want instead of sitting in a neutered company truck all day. I get to spec and order them exactly how I want them. The percentage I got hauling cattle and pulling food grade paid me more to my truck than what spot rates pay reefers and vans. I have retirement and health insurance. I’m starting to think you also choose to not see the difference in leasing to and leasing from.
Anyway, It’s time for me to provide some cheap labor for a big, evil company and go haul a contract load so that I can affect the spot rates.JolliRoger and broke down plumber Thank this. -
I wouldn’t lease a truck, period. I prefer to purchase and then lease to a carrier that has the freight I want to haul.JolliRoger and broke down plumber Thank this.
