Good luck. Keep that attitude and you'll do ok. Just realize this ain't no walk in the park or a get rich scheme, just a way to make an honest living with a couple of perks (if you like drivin and travel)

Ok so I'm probably the only person on this thread that went to the sacramento school so here's the skinny on the instructors,
There's a big guy that teaches the first week of class room work real cool guy cracks jokes all day real nice guy and knows what he's talkin about.
Now in the yard there are about 6 - 8 yard guys, ronny is by far the best driving instructor out there try and get him as much as possible, he works with any problem 1 on 1 and he talks to u like a human being BS's with u while ur driving which makes it less stressful.
Pete is the head honcho out there he always has a serious face but he will joke around once in awhile.
Then there is pedro and one other guy who always wears a orange construction shirt they run the backing stuff on the 28' and 53'.
Then Paul he is russian and hard to understand and usually if there r russian students he doesn't even bother with the regular students. But he's usually very verbal and while ur trying to shift miss a gear and ur trying to recover and can't find it he will grab the shifter out of ur hand and try to do it himself.
Then there r guys on n off that will show up but they r all a good group of guys just make sure when ur not driving or practicing ur skills in the truck do ur pretrip or u will lose ur drive time for the day or the next.
And on the DM note I bend over backwards for my DM and he does the same for me. For the past 6 weeks I have had no less then 2800 miles every week. He doesn't even give me loads that r not doable. I rescue loads for him left and right and I get the good loads after. For instance this wednesday one of our drivers was coming thru cali from stockton on his way to portland set his tandems at 41' 6" because he didn't know there were tandem laws guy has been with the company for 2 years doesn't know about kingpin laws.
I had to caravan with the guy all the way to portland then when we get here I unload my trlr with 4 pallets back to his trlr.
In return I got a 9 stop flower load 2064 miles to chicago area which this week will end me with 3269 miles can't get better then that. U do things for ur DM u will get rewarded. Most drivers would have cried their way outta this but I took the initiative and got the job done while the other driver sat in his truck and made jewelry. Literaly was making jewelry no joke.
Anyways stay safe and keep it on the asphalt.gemello1973 Thanks this. -
6PAK says you need to give him a call as he has a new phone and doesn't have your number!
So give him a call
and you still owe me coffee

Beer joint closed??? Massive fail there!
Sittin thru a wonderful little storm in Waco. Gotta love these central Texas storms. The truck was shakin so much due to the wind it woke me up. Looked like a hurricane outside.
Ain't forgot about ya there DM. Was thinkin earlier today that I need to call ya.
Not sure how I escaped the SEDLOD this time. Tried to pull a reset at the Petro, but they found me this run to Texico and now preset to Iowa. At least I was able to catch up on some hours at the petro and get my radio tweaked up a watt or 50 while there. Apparently a new cb shop opened up since the last time I was there. Seems to be fairly priced and competent. Funny how prices on all this radio stuff hasn't changed in the past 20 years or so.
Almost time for my 0300 02 and 0530 99, got to run... -
Thanks for the pointers. I met the big guy (forgot his name) when I was with the recruiter signing up. He gave me the DMV handbook to study over the weekend before class on Monday. Seemed really cool.
I will keep in mind about the DM. Still a bit nervous but getting excited about getting behind the wheel! I need to study trucker lingo, too! Haha
