I couldn't decide where to put this thread so if its in the wrong place feel free to move it.
So this morning I drove the 90 mile trip from Charlotte, NC to Elkin, NC to go to Rays Electronics Supply to have him do up my CB. This guy seems great and I was told to go to him from this forum so I'll post in that thread out it turns out when I go and pick it up.
Exit 1 on 485 to 77 north to exit 82 and back 180 miles!
Well I got to see my first Watkins Shepard truck on the highway today as Well as the first Millis Transfer truck, and a BUNCH of Melton trucks. Anyway where all very nice and clean.
I also got to see a bunch of really stupid truckers as well as four wheelers. So I got to see a death match between A SNI truck and some other truck I cant remember the other trucker was trying to pass SNI for like 10 miles and was cutting cars and other trucks off like crazy and almost ran a SUV off the road.
Then I got to see some driver pulling a 53" van looked like a Bed bugger trailer it was really low to the ground and had sheet metal panels down they side looked very raggedy. He trailer was swinging all over the place he couldn't keep it straight for some reason.
Then a fed ex ground driver pulling a set cut off another fed ex ground truck pulling a set, he cut back over with like 3 feet between the trucks!
Then a roadway driver pulling a set ripped the wheel to the left to change lanes almost ran a car off the highway with the pup.
all morning I just cruised along watching trucks cutting off trucks and cars cutting off trucks lol people are crazy!
I can't wait to hit the road!
Sorry there's no real point to this thread just wanted to share!
This is a picture of the restaurant next to a truck stop on Exit 82 on I-77 Northbound "not sure if you can read it, it says "Truckers Welcome" Nice to see that there are still people out there that like and appreciate truckers!

This thread is not pointless. It just goes to show people that some drivers of cars and trucks do not belong on the road.. You are also getting to see first hand as to what you do not do when you finally get behind the wheel of a big truck..
LostOne9, American-Trucker and The Challenger Thank this. -

What I mean is those of us that have been threw truck driving school or are Truck drivers know and understand that 30 feet isn't enough for a truck, where as someone that has only ever driving a car may not think it is a big deal.
I agree with it being more experienced drivers doing this stuff most of the guys I saw where either O/O's or where at least older looking drivers "not to say that they may not still be new drivers"

You guys must live in a different world than I do. I would love to invite you to come out and see what a real experience driver do so you will know before you lump a group into a category that justifies your inexperience. I just don't see the crap that you explain go on where I worked. Sure we haul gasoline and only take the best so maybe I'm spoiled but I have been out there long enough with other companies to know that bad habits start from the beginning. So you really can't blame an experience driver because they are not experienced.
What I believe you saw are drivers that are careless, have points on their record, have gone job to job, and do not qualify for the better companies. I've even seen companies that push the drivers for extra money so they'll get tickets on their record so they'll be stuck at that company. I've gone 20 plus years driving a truck and I have never gotten a ticket for anything. Sure I've been pulled over and I've been warned but never any paper. You can keep your record clean and there's lots of drivers on this board that drive professionally. When you stop thinking you're a professional because you get paid to drive then that's a start. Those drivers you saw are not professionals and I'd be willing to bet the O/O have gone through trucks and have no future. They don't have any plans of retiring because all the money they make goes right back into the truck. The company drivers haven't been at those companies very long. I don't think you'll see a driver drive like what you say and have a future at a company. They just don't last. So if you would please stop grouping these idiots into the experienced sector because they are just not smart enough to reach the experience part of driving. -
And not all O/O's dump all there money into there trucks and have nothing for retirement. I know O/O's that have done very well for themselves and will get to enjoy early retirement.
